Cathrine HaHello! I’m Catherine. Many of you may know me as Thuy My, Diem My’s daughter in Vietnam. I was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City. A year ago I moved to America on my own to pursue a college degree and start a new life. My path to college was not easy at all. After one semester in NYC, I dropped out. I then had to enroll myself in a community college. It took me two years to get back on track and prepare myself for the transfer process.

I felt very alone and there were no books or guides that helped me emotionally. That’s why I started this blog in 2016, hoping that my journey to America for college could help and inspire people that may feel alone or misunderstood.

Thuy My is a blog that empowers others to pursue a college education and live a life on their own terms no matter what background they come from.

It has been a long journey, and I am happy to say that I am currently a sophomore at Loyola Marymount University. I am a first- generation student, majoring in Communications and currently reside in Los Angeles, California.
